About Me

portraitlucyoct22.jpg

I am a fully qualified Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist and Member of the Association of Child Psychotherapists (ACP).

Registration with the ACP requires members to have completed training with an accredited training school.  The ACP is registered with the Professional Standards Authority.  The Department of Health recognises the ACP as the regulatory body for the profession.

Training to become a Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist takes a minimum of 6 years, and includes a 4-year full-time clinical placement.  The training is equivalent to a Clinical Doctorate.

I have over 24 years' experience of working therapeutically with children, young people and their families, both in in-patient and community mental health services.  Prior to working in independent practice I was employed as a Senior Child & Adolescent Psychotherapist within an NHS Community Child & Adolescent Mental Health Service (CAMHS) for over 9 years.

As well as offering child psychotherapy and working directly with clients, I have experience in providing consultation, teaching and supervision to other professionals working with troubled children, young people and their families.

I am a founder member of Child Psychotherapy West Midlands (CPWM), which is a group for qualified child psychotherapists in private and independent practice and provides ongoing CPD, group supervision, consultation and training events.
